None of the usual strategies seem to work in a family argument. Everyone here knows each other too well. Ultimatums ring hollow when you can never completely turn your back and walk away. It doesn't help that those who love you the most may also be the quickest to find fault. Since everything is personal, your best hope is to communicate clearly without raising your voice. You score big points with your visible effort to be reasonable. Even if you agree to disagree by the time it's all over, at least you'll come away with the feeling that everybody learned something.
